We went to visit the pediatrician on Friday for him to meet Judah and just to answer some questions that we had. The doctor was worried about how small Judah is, and wondered why he stopped growing inside me. Judah was born at 37 weeks, but is really more the size of a baby born at 35 or 36 weeks, and so he is considered a preemie. He lost weight after birth, but not more than 10 percent of his body weight, which is good. The doctor really wanted to fatten him up though, and told us to feed him only preemie formula, and to feed him every two hours, day and night.
We took him back today, and he is back to his original birth weight!! They say most babies are back to their birth weight by 10 days, and Judah is back by 8 days! The doctor said we were doing everything right. He said to start feeding him on demand, and we can now start nursing in addition to the preemie formula. Praise the Lord!! (Which is what Judah means!!)
